How men solve clothing problems

So since we're moving furniture and boxing up stuff, finding one's belongings isn't an instant process right now.

Yesterday we worked up until 10 minutes before we had to leave for a lunch appointment. I had to find a shirt in a color that would not look poisonous with the capris I had on. NOTHING worked, minutes ticking away. "I can't find a shirt that will go with these!" I yelled.

Larry answered instantly: "Black! White!"

"Don't have either!" (Findable at that moment)

"Gray!"

"Yes! Got it!"

Men are great outfit-simplifiers. For every problem, one of three answers will work. Black. White. Gray.

Um, are there other colors too?

I'm thinkin' it's about keeping it simple. I mean when I can go into a store and pick up a pair of Lee jeans, 32 30, I do not need to try them on. The color is consistent and it goes great with um, well, black, white or gray.

When I can go into a store and pick up a pair of jeans, 32 30, and they fit, I will know that I'd better see my doctor about this drastic weight loss.

When my husband asked what size I wore and I said "it depends", he was astonished. When I told him that sizes were smaller the more expensive the clothing, he was incredulous. If I could go into a store and buy a pair of jeans just by looking at numbers on the label it would be a miracle.
