Love it! (I admit I started off looking for the squirrel.)

Great photo and great post title.

I want to know if the nut is still sitting on the fence.
Did the squirrel not like the taste?
Did another squirrel shout "Hey look at this!" distracting him from dinner?
Was he late for something more important? Like chasing a friend's tail as they debated who claimed the nearest tree.
Or did he think, hmm, bet I can confuse those weird humans who keep walking through here disturbing my dinner.

I think I'll go this way. No, I think I'll go that way. Where's my nut? Yeah, I'll go this... no, that way. Is there a tree here? There's my nut. I'll go that way, yeah, and the other way. That's it, I'll go the other way. Where's my nut? I'll find a nut that... no, this... no THAT way. If I get UNDER the rail things look all... I should go back, too. What nut?

Southernyankee and Sherwood, your comments made me laugh and reminded me of something I read a long time ago: Squirrels hide nuts for the winter, but researchers have found that they don't remember where their nuts are stored very well. Instead, they dig in likely-looking locations where nuts *might* be stored, and they all eat each others' nuts.

Squirrels - the distracted scatterbrains of the animal kingdom.
