Marsh shadows

Shadows lengthen over the Murrells Inlet marsh, as the sun nears day's end. Tide's coming in, too.

Series of photos taken between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM EDT,
on October 8th, 2010.

This is the view from my folks' yard, looking over toward Huntington Beach State Park.

To see it bigger, here's the link to the flickr file!

Beautiful -- and well worth viewing on the Flickr "original." What a cool idea: using a Flickr set "slide show" as an animation! I'm going to have to play around with that sometime.

This is really beautiful. Did you use a tripod? (You must have.) I'm inspired to try the same thing. Where, I'm not sure yet.

Thanks, guys - I did use a tripod - i considered just parking the camera on the upstairs porch rail, but with wind and dogs bounding up and down the stairs, i was worried it would fall to the bricks below.

I'd watched that shadow crawl across the landscape a couple days before that, and thought it might make a cool time-lapse photo set, and then i thought: "Slideshow!" I didn't time the shots at regular intervals, just wandered out periodically and snapped another one - which is probably evident!
