Oh, lots of things. [UPDATED]

Congratulations to the whole Distributive Education class - you each get an A+!

This is a book that I actually picked up in a thrift shop way back in the 1970's. It's a high school textbook, published in 1968.

And it's full of very important questions to ponder. You can click each for a bigger view.

I love the service station -- that Invicta is very much like my first car with those same slanted headlights and BIG fins, but wasn't a convertible.

And I think that the woman in the first picture will get home with a dreadful headache.

Placement of pocketbook counterbalances Price. Placement of package counterbalances Value, Service, etc.?????????????

Hate the hat.

It means that even Lady Justice likes to go shopping once in a while.

It has something to do with stewardesses who wear gloves to go shopping.

Sherwood - it's a good thing she takes her blindfold off to shop. Don't know what sort of old dross she'd buy otherwise.

Were they really streaming students in the 50s to the point where they were learning about "Your Job in Distribution"? Grim!

Sorry, 60s.

O yes, ronnie - "Distributive Education" is mentioned in this book's intro and that was what our school system, maybe a lot of others too, called it. But it was more all-encompassing than the title indicates. It defines most all commerce-related careers, including auxiliary jobs -- clerical, mechanical, stewardess, stockbroker, etc. -- as being based on getting goods and services distributed.

But the book shows what too many educators thought of these students. Treated them like dim bulbs. Sometimes true but often not - i saw some bright classmates who just weren't into academia bloom in DE.
