Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene a video by nickelshrink on Flickr.

Apologies for the oversized screen - I cannot seem to change it manually.

One minute of the storm, August 26th at about 4:30 PM.

The marsh (yes, this is the marsh, not the ocean!) is submerged by the storm surge! Seabirds are screeching there in the sound portion - there were lots of them swooping and diving as though they were having a great time.

And to think - we got off easy.

HOLY SMOKES! If it was like that where you are, I wouldn't want to be a couple of hundred miles north of there.

We got off easy, too - pouring rain all yesterday and a bit of wind (Husband's tomato plants got blown over). Flooding here and there around town, though, and 50,000 people without power in NB at one point. (About 2000 still waiting for it to be restored as I type at 6:00 Monday evening.) I guess the New England states got the worst of it, really.
